4/11 – What is the key question: ❌ Which humanoid robot will win? Tesla? Unitree? Figure? Someone else? ➡️What does EVERY humanoid robot need? Because the winner may change. The supply chain doesn't. Actuators can potentially represent ~40–60% of a humanoid's BOM. And inside the actuator? Gearbox Motor Driver Bearings Sensors Go one level deeper. The gearbox itself can represent roughly 30–50% of actuator cost. So the investment trail starts looking like: Robot → Actuator → Gearbox Follow the value.

This is what’s hiding inside the next generation of robotic hands. Compact frameless motors can be integrated directly into dexterous robotic hands to drive finger and joint movement while keeping the mechanism extremely compact. For humanoid robots, hand performance will depend heavily on this kind of engineering high torque, precise control and more actuators packed into very limited space. Walking gets most of the attention. But dexterous hands may decide how useful humanoid robots actually become.
