Stats time! Humanoid robot startups raised $8.6B this year. Almost none of them ship robots. The company shipping 44% of the world's humanoids is worth a fraction of the one still running pilots. Here's the humanoid money board, valuation vs what actually shipped: 1. Unitree. ~$53B market cap. $235M revenue in 2025, sells humanoids from $5,900. IPO popped roughly 460% in August. 2. Figure. $39B. A BMW pilot that has handled 90,000+ parts. 3. Skild AI. $14B+. Software only. No robot. 4. 1X Technologies. ~$10B reported. 10,000 preorders for its home robot in 5 days. 5. NEURA Robotics. ~$7B.…

Lee @binarybits Sep 1 Robots can dance, do backflips, and run faster than Usain Bolt. This makes a lot of people worry about mass unemployment. But @chi\t\williams wrote an amazing article explaining why it'll take years — possibly decades — for robots to match humans. \\ \\ Why humanoid…

AI is still so early, but so bullish. We're witnessing a huge unlock of economic value with the adoption of AI models like Claude, and more recently, agents like Grok Bot. This then filters down into the most bullish of bull points for AI. Enterprise AI adoption increases productivity -> increases enterprise earnings -> increases token demand as a flywheel effect -> increases ROI for the AI labs -> increases demand for AI infra e.g. compute. I recently heard from an ex-colleague that a large consulting firm is increasing their AI spend by 100x at their London office for their back office…

Fifteen years after "software is eating the world," Marc Andreessen's own firm just admitted atoms are eating software's margins. SUMMARY This is not an a16z story. a16z's $1.1B Machine Age Fund is simply the loudest confirmation yet of a rotation already underway across Silicon Valley's largest pools of capital — Sequoia Capital , Lightspeed , General Catalyst , and SoftBank have all made comparable moves in 2026. Global venture funding into physical AI hit $47.4B across 521 deals in H1 2026 — nearly 4x the prior half. For builders and investors in robotics, autonomous systems, and…

In robot control ER 2 competes with NVIDIA's open Isaac GR00T family (GR00T N1.7, Cosmos Reason), Physical Intelligence's π-series, Figure's Helix, and OpenVLA. In interoperability standards, MHS enters a space already occupied by SiLA 2 (the most mature open lab-connectivity standard, built on gRPC/Protocol Buffers with mDNS discovery), OPC-UA (the dominant industrial M2M standard, IEC 62541, 150+ companion specs), ROS/ROS 2 (the de-facto robotics middleware; ROS 1 support ended May 2025), and LabOP/Autoprotocol (protocol-description standards). MHS's differentiated wedge is being the first…

Physical Intelligence is bringing general-purpose AI into the physical world. We are a group of engineers, scientists, roboticists, and company builders developing foundation models and learning algorithms to power the robots of today and the physically-actuated devices of the future. We're looking to add a small number of people to our team and have listed a few of the roles we're hiring for below. That said, we're always on the lookout for the exceptional. If none of these roles quite describe you, tell us what does and why you'd be excited to work at PI — by applying under…

$14B valuation. Pre-revenue. A handful of customers. That is Skild AI today. And it is not the outlier. Physical Intelligence: $11B Generalist: $2B to $3B in months, $600M raised Skild AI: $14B Three companies. Billions in capital. Almost no commercial traction between them. The thesis is simple. Someone builds the foundation model for robotics the way OpenAI built one for language. Find the winner early, own the platform forever. Here is the problem. LLMs were trained on trillions of words scraped from the open internet. That dataset already existed, and it was free. No equivalent exists for…

# openpi openpi holds open-source models and packages for robotics, published by the [Physical Intelligence team](https://www.physicalintelligence.company/). Currently, this repo contains three types of models: - the [π₀ model](https://www.physicalintelligence.company/blog/pi0), a flow-based vision-language-action model (VLA). - the [π₀-FAST model](https://www.physicalintelligence.company/research/fast), an autoregressive VLA, based on the FAST action tokenizer. - the [π₀.₅ model](https://www.physicalintelligence.company/blog/pi05), an upgraded version of π₀ with better open-world…
