Their industry group is calling for a ban on Chinese connected vehicles, software and hardware, arguing they pose data-security risks and could undercut American manufacturers with heavily subsidized vehicles. Chinese brands like BYD have expanded rapidly overseas but have yet to establish a major U.S. presence. | ||
| 2:18 PM ET | @ParadisLabs | 2:18 PM ET@ParadisLabs @ParadisLabs on X Korean memory stocks are *not* weak because of rumours that the U.S. will impose tariffs on Korean semiconductors. There are other drivers: 1. Retail net-buying for KOSPI has dropped by 90% from July (KRW 54.5T) to August (KRW 5.4T) - before talks of tariffs even intensified. 2. Retail brokerage account deposits have dropped to under KRW 100T for a whole week. In general, Koreans have less dry powder in their investing accounts vs. H1. 3. This is because Korean's are funneling their cash into bank accounts - deposits at Korea's top 5 banks increased in July-August to above KRW 1,000T for the… | |

| 3:56 PM ET | @Newsforce | 3:56 PM ET@Newsforce @Newsforce on X 🇺🇸Commerce Sec. Howard Lutnick just confirmed the Trump Admin wants targeted semiconductor tariffs that punish companies that won’t build plants in America. Firms that produce chips in the U.S. would pay nothing, while everyone else would pay to sell into the world’s largest market. He called the coming tariffs “intense” but would not name a rate, and said when the Trump Admin came in, the U.S. had 1% of semiconductor production. The Admin's goal is to get to 40%-50% domestic production by 2029. https://t.co/FcXyDXsFAM | |

| 3:16 AM ET | @tchsignal | 3:16 AM ET@tchsignal @tchsignal on X U.S. Barriers Test China's Robotics Scale Advantage The U.S. is raising barriers around foreign-made drones and advanced robots, but those measures are colliding with a market where Chinese manufacturers already operate at major scale. The FCC has added foreign-produced advanced robotic devices, including humanoids and quadrupeds, to its Covered List, blocking new equipment authorizations for covered models. Separately, the White House has imposed Section 232 tariffs on imported drones and components, with rates ranging from 10% to 100% depending on the product and origin. At the same time,… | |

These new policies include restrictions on foreign-made advanced robots by the FCC and component-specific tariffs starting in September, with further measures slated for 2027. | 10:34 PM ET | 10:34 PM ET FCC Covered List + drone tariffs: US barriers vs China robotics scale Kate Park, TechCrunch (7:34 PM PDT, Aug 30, 2026): In July and August Washington tightened restrictions on foreign-made advanced robotic systems and imposed steep tariffs on imported drones and components. Drone tariffs take effect in September; additional component tariffs follow in 2027. FCC Covered List (2021) expanded from telecom/surveillance (Huawei, ZTE, Hikvision) to foreign-made drones and most recently advanced robotic devices. Counterpoint via TechCrunch: global humanoid shipments 22,000 in H1; world's five largest by shipments — AgiBot, Unitree, Galbot, UBTECH, Leju — all Chinese, 86% of H1 2026 shipments. Agility Robotics welcomed the FCC decision in July, pointing to Digit designed and assembled in the US. Links FCC PDF DOC-423682A1 and White House drone-tariff fact sheet. |
